Here are a few pictures of the fun learning we have done this term linked to our topic.
People who help us!
This week we thought about all the people who help us in school, at home and in the community. We also practised our story telling skills, using pumpkin houses and we made spiders in webs by weaving paper plates. Outside we watched a sunflower bloom and watched each day to see how big it would grow.
This week we looked at The Armed Forces. We continued this by reflecting on the Remembrance day. We made poppy wreaths and watched the CBeebies video about why poppies are significant.
This week we have also been building outdoors, creating boats and planes. There has been lots of teamwork and use of specialist vocabulary.
We walked in on Monday morning to find a table turned over and chairs thrown over the art corner!
There were footprints on the carpet and sweets all over the floor.
We dressed in our police uniforms and used our magnifying glasses and torches to look for clues.
Outside we built police cars and then we tried to find out who made the mess.
We thought it was Mrs Inglis because she likes sweets, however Seraya said the foot prints were too small.
As part of our studies on Judaism we looked at The Menorah.
We made our own versions using paint, play dough, coloured pencils.
Harrison made a candle from wooden bricks with a red flame on top.

We all enjoyed a fun filled afternoon with our families creating castles using junk modelling.
Welcome to term 4 in Reception. We are looking forward to learning about stories from around the world.
As part of our Tales Around The World we looked at Barnaby Bear. Barnaby Bear travels around the world and looks at places of interest.
We looked at China and were fascinated by the Great Wall of China, we looked at the history of building the wall and we tried building our own using construction.
We also looked at Chinese New Year and we looked at how fireworks work and we created our own. We tried to be Chinese dragons and danced to Chinese music.
World Book Day
Reception class had a day based on Alice in Wonderland. After watching the staff perform the story we had lots of activities based on the book.
We made Jam tarts following the Queen Of Hearts instructions, we made drink me potions and decorated eat me cakes. We also had story time with Mrs Stenning, Mr Atkinson and Mrs Davis.
As part of our RE we had a workshop from Maggie from CAFOD. We talked about the importance of Lent and this can benefit others.
We also looked at Pope Francis’ letter to the world and how we can make it a better place.
We started our day by having croissants and talking about our news. We thought they were yummy but Charlie thought he should have had a cup of tea with it!
As part of our French studies we looked at different members of the family. We used photo props to role-play the characters and then we had to choose the correct name label.
We also learnt the names of our body – we sang head, shoulders, knees and toes in French! We sang it so many times we could do it without the music!
